I hope everyone's had a great relaxing/restful summer. It's hard to believe that the beginning of the 2018 school year is right around the corner! Below are a few reminders for everyone. #1. Percussion Camp - July 25-27 (9pm-5pm) Bring a bag lunch! #2. Band Camp Week #1 - July 30-August 3 (9pm-5pm) Winds/Percussion Guard (1-9) Remember to bring a bag lunch for week #1. We will plan to be outside, so plan accordingly! #3. Band Camp Week #2 - August 6-10 (8am-9pm) FULL BAND (MEALS PROVIDED!) #4. Post Camp: Tuesday/Thursday (5pm-9pm) FULL BAND #5. FIRST PERFORMANCE - DISTRICT CONVOCATION Tuesday 8/14 - 9am! #6. FIRST FB GAME - Friday, August 17th @ York (FULL BAND PEP BAND!) Please be sure to drink LOTS of water starting NOW so that you are properly hydrated BEFORE coming to camp. You need to feel like you are drinking more water than you've ever had in the days leading up camp! ALSO... Be sure to start cutting out sodas and heavy foods so that you "feel" better in the heat. Lots of fruits and vegetables and less burgers and fried food would be VERY helpful leading up to camp! Finally: YOU MUST EAT A GOOD BREAKFAST EACH DAY BEFORE COMING TO CLOVER HIGH SCHOOL! Your body needs FUEL just like a CAR. You would start a trip to Myrtle Beach with 1/4 tank of gas and "hope" that you make it... you won't. The same can be said for fueling your body. "But I don't eat breakfast" will not cut it during band camp. Your body will shut down which will hurt you and the band program. We need everyone ready to go, so please be smart & plan for camp! I look forward to seeing everyone on MONDAY!! Reminders & Parade Info #1. The 2nd & final turn-in date for Bed Sheet orders is: TOMORROW - Tuesday, November 28th! If you did not order the 1st time or would like to order more sheets, please have your order ready TOMORROW! #2. SUMMER UNIFORM SHORTS need to returned! Please wash your shorts and put them in plastic grocery bag with your name on it. We need everyone to return their shorts so that we can use them again next year! #3. Band Pictures were handed out last week and need to be returned by THIS FRIDAY! All proofs packets need to be signed and returned even if you do not plan to purchase any pictures. #4. We are still in need of workers for the ACC Championship Game this Saturday! This is our only Saturday event which should open this up to even more people. $60 per person to work the event! Spots will fill-up quickly, so don’t miss your chance! Sign-up on CHARMS! #5. Christmas Parade –Sunday, December 3rd! Details attached/reverse. You will need to plan to pick-up your uniform from the band room either Thursday or Friday and return it next Monday/Tuesday. This is a graded event for the Marching Band. 8th graders should plan to come as well. #6. CAROLINA CROWN DRUM & BUGLE CORPS will be having their December camp HERE at Clover High School December 15-17! All students are encouraged to come and watch this WORLD CHAMPION group rehearse. Extra credit for students who attend!! #7. The final band fee payment of $75 was due Wednesday, November 15th. Unpaid band fees will be transferred to the school debit list at the end of the semester and will need to be paid before students are allowed to purchase parking passes, attend prom or participate in the graduation ceremony. Even $25 a month would be help towards reducing your balance. Many people are taking advantage of the PayPal option and using a debit or credit card to pay down/off their balance via CHARMS. We have many bills coming due that need to be paid, so it is essential that we collect these fees promptly. We still have over $20,000 in band fees from this year outstanding.
This will be the last “weekly” update since the schedule is starting to slow down from marching season. I will plan to make updates at least once per month moving forward with important reminders and information. You can always check the CHARMS calendar for important upcoming dates. Our next Booster Club meeting will be THIS TUESDAY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 14th. Please mark this on your calendar and make plans to attend. Poinsettias will be delivered and available for pick-up on Thursday, November 16th. We have nowhere to store Poinsettias, so everyone who ordered needs to make plans to pick them up THIS THURSDAY! The Clover Band Boosters are selling Smoked Turkey’s for Thanksgiving. We will be smoking 18lb-20lb turkeys at CHS behind the band room next Tuesday, November 21st. Cost will be $35 per turkey and all proceeds will go to help start our “GATOR FUND”! Pick-up will be between 5-6:30pm next Tuesday! Please go to http://www.cloverbands.com/fundraising to order your turkey! The 2nd & final turn-in date for Bed Sheet orders is: Tuesday, November 28th! If you did not order the 1st time or would like to order more sheets, please have your order ready by Tuesday, November 28th! CAROLINA CROWN DRUM & BUGLE CORPS will be having their December camp HERE at Clover High School December 15-17! All students are encouraged to come and watch this WORLD CHAMPION group rehearse. Extra credit for students who attend!! The final band fee payment of $75 is due Wednesday, November 15th. Everyone should have their full band fee paid by this date. Many people are taking advantage of the PayPal option and using a debit or credit card to pay down/off their balance via CHARMS. We have many bills coming due that need to be paid, so it is essential that we collect these fees promptly. We still have over $25,000 in band fees from this year outstanding. We made a good push earlier this season to get $$ in, but with 1 MB payment remaining we should have about $8,500 outstanding. PLEASE do everything you can to pay your band fees
Hard to believe that Marching Band season is over. What a day on Saturday. I'm not sure about you, but I had quite the range of emotions on Saturday. I'm not sure I've still processed everything yet and I'm not sure I'll ever quite come to grips with how things shook out on Saturday. As I told the kids the middle of last week: "You pay your money and see how things shake out. Sometimes it goes your way... sometime it doesn't." Obviously the scores/placements didn't go as we'd hoped. That being said, I am nothing but PROUD of the students and the performances they had on Saturday. Our prelims performance was GREAT. Our finals performance was nothing short of AMAZING! I was speechless afterwards. I'm not sure exactly where they pulled it from but their effort, energy and passion was truly inspiring and a joy to behold. While I wish the judges would've rewarded our performance I know that the feeling we had afterward was something I will never forget and reward enough! Obviously, we will listen, evaluate and try to ascertain how/why things finished the way they did, but I believe in the long run... THEY GOT IT WRONG. That's my "opinion" and I'm going to keep it! ;-) Thank you to everyone who helped on Saturday get us there, back, on/off the field, fed, watered and motivated. We couldn't have done it without you! Please find attached the announcements for this week. Of Note: BAND PICTURE DAY IS THIS WEDNESDAY! We will have a professional photographer here on Wednesday from 11:30 – 4:30 and all students should plan to be photographed for the composite picture! No purchase required, but we want EVERYONE to be photographed. Middle School students should make plans to come immediately after-school! Our next Booster Club meeting will be NEXT TUESDAY, 14th. Please mark this on your calendar and make plans to attend. The deadline to turn in Poinsettia order is THURSDAY! This will be a GENERAL FUND fundraiser so I hope that you will help us improve our financial outlook by selling 10 flowers. These make great Christmas gifts! We have a Monday night Panther game next week and need you help! We were many people short this past Sunday and it cost us $$. If we continue to be short workers, then we will lose our stand. BoA Stadium is the Clover Band Booster Club’s PRIMARY funding source. If we lose our stand then we will have to cut programs and opportunities for the band program. Please sign-up and work a shift! Sign-ups are on CHARMS. Click to sign-up: Monday Night Panther Game 11/13 CAROLINA CROWN DRUM & BUGLE CORPS will be having their December camp HERE at Clover High School December 15-17! IT'S STATE WEEK! It's hard to believe that State Finals is this coming Saturday! All of the hard work for the past 3 months all pays off this weekend! I hope that you are either signed up to help or are planning to come and cheer on the Pride of Clover this Saturday! We need to FILL THE STANDS this weekend and show everyone that there's a NEW BAND IN 5A ready to shake things up!! Tickets are $10 for adults & $6 for children/students and are good for prelims & finals. The Pride of Clover is the final band in Prelims @ 4:30pm, but if you want a good seat you'd better be there by NOON as it will most certainly fill-up! Be sure to find other Clover Band fans and sit as a group! Items of note: State Week Schedule: October 30 - November 4 Monday – Full Band until 6pm (Group activity 6:30-8) Tuesday – Full Band until 6pm Wednesday – NOTHING Thursday – Full Band 6pm-9pm @ the Stadium Friday – Full Band 6pm-9pm @ the Stadium The schedule for Saturday is attached. We will be meeting at the stadium for a quick rehearsal and will load the buses and depart from there for Irmo. Our Poinsettia sale is going on NOW! $10 per flower and all proceeds go to the general fund to help us catch-up on our budget items. We're asking everyone to try to sell 10 flowers.
